Fertility Factors Checklist

Fertility can only be assessed by a doctor, with tests for both partners. This page does not estimate a "fertility age" or your chance of pregnancy. It counts factors the NHS links with fertility and shows when the NHS suggests seeing a GP.

Before you start

Method : Fertility Factors Checklist — a custom points score written by this site. Each answer adds or subtracts the points shown in the Methodology table below.

Validation : Unvalidated. The points have never been tested against any laboratory measurement or health outcome, and the result is not an age.

Review : not reviewed by a qualified clinician. Educational only — not a diagnosis or a medical test.

The NHS suggests seeing a GP if you haven't conceived after a year of trying, or sooner if you're a woman aged 36 or over or already aware of possible fertility problems.

Methodology & assumptions

Your score is the sum of the points below. The weights are our own judgement. The old version added made-up years for AMH levels, treatments, pregnancy and contraceptive history, scored sexes differently and gave a "fertility age". Lab results and medical history need a doctor, so those were removed with the age output.

Worked examples

Smoker, more than 14 drinks a week, BMI 31, irregular periods, trying more than a year: 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 = +10 points.

Non-smoker, light drinking, BMI 23, regular periods, not yet trying: 0 points.

Understanding your result

This counts factors you reported. It is not a fertility test, not a chance of pregnancy and not an age. Age itself affects fertility, but this score cannot say by how much for you. Health-agency guidance linked below is general and based on populations, not on this score.
