Muscle Strength Habit Score

Muscle strength and mass decline with age, and can be measured with tests like grip strength or timed chair stands. This page does not estimate a "muscle age". It counts strength habits and everyday tasks against NHS activity guidance.

Before you start

Method : Muscle Strength Habit Score — a custom points score written by this site. Each answer adds or subtracts the points shown in the Methodology table below.

Validation : Unvalidated. The points have never been tested against any laboratory measurement or health outcome, and the result is not an age.

Review : not reviewed by a qualified clinician. Educational only — not a diagnosis or a medical test.

Sudden weakness, especially on one side of the body, can be a stroke — call emergency services.

Methodology & assumptions

Your score is the sum of the points below. The weights are our own judgement. The old version added made-up years for self-rated grip, push-ups, muscle mass and body fat, scored men and women differently and gave a "muscle age". Self-ratings without measurements and age norms can't produce an age, so it was removed.

Strength trains 2+ days, stands and climbs easily, 150+ minutes, protein most meals: 0 points.

Understanding your result

This counts habits and tasks you reported. It is not a measured strength test and not an age. Health-agency guidance linked below is general and based on populations, not on this score.
