Stress Load Score

Long-term stress is linked with poorer health, but there is no measurement that turns stress into an "age". This page does not estimate one. It adds up stress load and the supports that NHS stress advice mentions.

Before you start

Method : Stress Load Score — a custom points score written by this site. Each answer adds or subtracts the points shown in the Methodology table below.

Validation : Unvalidated. The points have never been tested against any laboratory measurement or health outcome, and the result is not an age.

Review : not reviewed by a qualified clinician. Educational only — not a diagnosis or a medical test.

If you feel unable to cope, or have thoughts of harming yourself, contact a doctor, a crisis line or emergency services now.

Your answers stay in this browser tab; nothing is sent or stored.

Answer the questions, then press Calculate score.

Methodology & assumptions

Your score is the sum of the points below. The weights are our own judgement. The old version added made-up years per answer and gave a "stress age" and stress level. Both were removed. Validated questionnaires exist for research and clinical use; this is not one of them.

Worked examples

Stressed almost all the time, two major events, under 6 h sleep, no support, little activity, often uses alcohol to cope: 3 + 2 + 1 + 2 + 1 + 2 = +11 points.

Rarely stressed, no events, 7 h sleep, has support, active, no substance use: 0 points.

Understanding your result

This adds up what you reported. It is not a validated stress scale, not a mental-health screen and not an age. Health-agency guidance linked below is general and based on populations, not on this score.
