Emotional Skills Self-Reflection

There's no scientific "emotional age". This page does not estimate one. It's a light self-reflection on everyday emotional skills. Higher means you report using these skills more often; it is not a validated emotional-intelligence test and can't assess mental health.

Before you start

Method : Emotional Skills Self-Reflection — a custom points score written by this site. Each answer adds or subtracts the points shown in the Methodology table below.

Validation : Unvalidated. The points have never been tested against any laboratory measurement or health outcome, and the result is not an age.

Review : not reviewed by a qualified clinician. Educational only — not a diagnosis or a medical test.

This quiz is not about mental health. If you're struggling or having thoughts of harming yourself, contact a doctor, a crisis line or emergency services now.

Your answers stay in this browser tab; nothing is sent or stored.

Methodology & assumptions

Your score is the sum of the points below. The weights are our own judgement. The old version turned self-rated empathy, regulation and other traits into an "emotional age". That had no scientific basis, so the age was removed. Unlike the health scores on this site, higher points here mean more of the listed skills.

Sometimes does each: 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 5 points.

Understanding your result

This adds up skills you reported, for self-reflection only. Higher means you report using these skills more often. It is not an emotional-intelligence test, not a mental-health screen and not an age. Health-agency guidance linked below is general and based on populations, not on this score.
